Financial Members of the Waikanae Club are automatically intitled to be in the membership draw there is no cost involved to the member.

Raffles are run by a different Adjunct each month and the Social Club have a Petrol Voucher Raffle available from the bar during the week  which can also be purchased alongside  two $50 draws on the Tuesday and Friday nights both for only $2.  These are available from the committee member on duty on the stage.

Comedian Raybon Kan brings his critically-acclaimed stand-up show ‘Clear and Present Manger’ to Waikanae this May.

The 90-minute touring show, which wowed audiences in Wellington last year, is part of Raybon’s build-up to the NZ International Comedy Festival 2012.

Raybon’s bringing his comedy to the Waikanae Club on May 24th at 7pm

The show will be a raucous hour-and-a-half of material based on Raybon’s three R’s: race, religion and relationships. “Something to offend everyone,” promises Raybon.

Theatrical review website Theatreview agreed: “He seems to have a compulsion to dig himself a hole — juicy stuff.”

                                                   Outdoor Bowls Hugh Wright Cup 2012

 The cup which was first played for in 1923 and is now recognised as the Tournament to win in the Central region of Club’s NZ.

This year saw a record 42 teams enter and play was held at the Upper Hutt Bowling Club that are the designated hosts each year.

A deluge in the early hours of the morning saw volunteers including some visiting bowlers squeegee at least 2inches of water off the two grass greens and play started only 25 minutes late.

Participants came from St Johns (Wanganui) Levin, Waikanae, Kapiti, Porirua, South Wairarapa, Wellington Wainuiomata, Petone, Park Avenue, Naenae B.C, and Upper Hutt

The winners were Waikanae skipped by J Conley who won from R McGhie, South Wairarapa who was second on differential from Trevor Thomas Park Avenue.

This tournament is held at Upper Hutt each year on the Friday after St Patrick’s Day and is open to any member club that belongs to Clubs NZ in the Central area.

Our team comprising of John Connolly ( S) , Graham Fairburn, Keith Redmond & Robin Burnett took out honours with 4 wins, 54 ends to bringing back the cup on display in the glass cabinet in the front entrance.

The history dates back to 1926, the cup surviving a fire at Upper Hutt Cosy Club which was remounted to keep the interest & competition alive.

Eight members of the Waikanae Chartered Club Golf Adjunct have just returned from a successful trip to the 32nd Pen Hawkins Rosebowl held in Whangarei. Out of the 8 players 4 qualified for the final round Calcutta finishing in a commendable 12th and 20th place out of 126 pairs.

With fine weather on the first day and changeable weather on the second the scoring was difficult. Stormy weather on Calcutta day made scoring even harder, it was a case of fighting for every point available. With our 4 team members finishing in the top 20 was an excellent achievement.

One member of the team was fortunate enough to have a friend call for him and take him on a trip to the Waipoua  Kauri Forest to see Tana Mahuta   (God of the Forest ) and on to Hokianga Harbour.

Many thanks go to all our helpers and supporters on raffle night. To all the Waikanae Club members who support the Golf Adjunct by buying our raffles.
