Smiles please! You’ll certainly do that when you dine at Waikanae’s newest restaurant ‘Sorrisi on Elizabeth”. Plenty of space, tasteful décor and great food.
Sorrisi – ‘smiles’ in Italian- is in the Waikanae Chartered Club just across the railway lines. There’s a huge blackboard menu with something for everyone and no single dish over $18. In fact, the Roast of the Day, which is a featured favourite, comes together with a dessert at only $19.
Thai Beef is also proving very popular and a Children’s Menu and Bar Snacks are also available.
Kapiti/Horowhenua catering identity Bill Moyle is Chef and Catering Manager and he has managed to ‘import’ chef Regan, from his job in Blenheim. “Regan has the reputation of a Pizza Guru so these will be a coming special at Sorrisi.” said Bill
Regan is also Bill’s son so this becomes a true family business.
It appears that our fish has made an international impression – “one diner likened our fish to some he had at the the Ritz in London, in fact he rated ours as the best he had tasted.’ “ said Bill ‘…This ‘world-famous’ dish is deep-fried with tar tare sauce and is top of the menu, we will also crumb and pan fry this if needed. :”Our fish is snap frozen Hoki from the deep south –probably fresher than we could get from a local market,” he added.
Currently Sorrisi on Elizabeth is open for dinner Tuesday, Friday Saturday from 6pm ‘until the last person is fed’, but Bill is planning to extend the hours.
Catering has been Bill Moyle’s life; he has had contracts with the Levin RSA, his own catering business and a ‘Live café’ with an attached catering course among others and he still has the catering contract at Foxton’s RSA . ‘Battalion Easton’.
“Gather up the family and come in for a meal” says Bill, “Try our world-famous fish!”
The Waikanae Club is open to members, affiliated members and guests .but if you would like to visit for dinner the first time, call Bill and he will arrange for you to be signed in.
Private functions can also be arranged through the club office and Bill is always happy to help with catering arrangements.
