It was with great pleasure that the Waikanae Chartered Club was able to present the Special Children’s Christmas Party on 6 November 2020.
Even-though the Club has been committed to this event for several years, this is the first year that the Club was ab
le to donate its largest grant to date of $5000. For this event, 2 of the representatives of the Special Children’s Christmas Party, Ms Antonia Vaney, the Event Manager and staff member (a local Waikanae girl!) Karen Harkness attended the presentation to accept the cheque, speak to the event and remained at the Club to discuss the event with our members.
Ms Vaney in her presentation explained that the Club’s contribution would go towards the 250 children that attend the event from Kapiti. She further explained the selection process which was committed to identifying children that fit the event’s criteria. These include children that are suffering from:
life-threatening illness,
physical and or intellectual impairment
domestic violence and
children living in underprivileged circumstances
She went on that words on paper cannot do justice to what this day will mean to these children and extended an invitation to club members to join them at the Christmas Party.
Club Chairman of the Board, John Cook is heading a delegation to attend. The club will provide transport for members and this will also include a stopover at the Porirua Club. The date is set for 28 November.
